KUSADASI

Kusadasi literally translates as ‘Bird Island’ and  takes its name from the tiny island known as Güvercin Adası, or Pigeon Island, that is attached to the mainland by a man-made causeway. Kusadasi is one of Turkey’s largest and most cosmopolitan resorts. After Istanbul, it is Turkey’s main port of call for cruise-liners, with around 900 visiting the port annually. This resort has experienced explosive growth in recent years and there are now some 2,500 foreigners holding resident visas living in and around Kusadasi.

Situated on the west coast of Turkey, 95 km south of Izmir, Kusadasi is a good all round resort, offering great beaches, a golf course and excellent shopping. There is an abundance of world-renowned high street names, such as Starbucks, Burger King and McDonalds. There is a busy nightlife and  Kusadasi is held as being one of the most attractive cities of the Aegean.  It is close to many important historical sites, including Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis, the statue of the Goddess Artemis, House of Virgin Mary, the Seven Sleepers, Priene, Miletos, Didyma, making it ideal for sightseers interested in ancient history.  There are a number of sandy beaches in the area, which, with the typical Mediterranean climate of hot summers and mild winters provide a long tourism season.
